Green Yard Boy 2014 The first fed winner of 2014 in the Irish South Road Fed, "Green Yard Boy" (IHU-10-S-93047) goes to the very popular partnership of J. Murphy & Son from the Greenhills club, one of the strongest clubs in the federation. The partnership also achieved 6th and 7th club in the first 10.

Green Yard Boy J. Murphy & Son, Greenhills RPC

The first federation race of the season was at Thurles on April 12th where 496 members sent 10369 birds.

This really is a super pigeon as you can see from the results below. As Tommy says himself he is the most successful pigeon that has come into his loft over the years and is known as Green Yard Boy. He is a blue cock of Sootjen breeding. The father of Green Yard Boy was purchased from Gibb and Byrne of Lisburn, Northern Ireland. The mother was purchased from fellow Dublin fancier James Boland of the Finglas RPC.

The pigeon is a 2010 bred young bird but was never raced as a youngster. He started his racing as a yearling in 2011.

His results are as follows: since 2011

  • 1st Club, 1st Fed - Mallow
  • 1st Club, 1st Fed - Thurles
  • 1st Club, 3rd Open - Barleycove
  • 2nd Club, 19th Fed - Mallow
  • 2nd Club, 28th Fed - Pilmore Beach
  • 3rd Club, 20th Fed - Skibbereen
  • 6th Club, 60th Fed – Mallow

We would like to wish the Murphy and Son partnership all the best for the 2014 season and we hope to see Green Yard Boy topping the results here at PigeonLink.

Kevin Barry.
