John Whelan tops the ISRF from Thurles

John Whelan wins the first Young Bird race from Thurles this year.

The birds were liberated at 09:00AM at Thurles on July 13th when 290 ISRF members 8713 birds. John Whelan flying under the name J. Whelan & DTR, DONNYCARNEY topped the I S R F Thurles YB race flying 82 miles 1284 yards with a blue cock and with a winning velocity of 1544.842 y/min.

The pedigree of this blue cock are Vanreet Soothjen lines obtained from John's good friends Geoff Greenaway and Daniel bros.

G. DALY & SON also racing in the DONNYCARNEY club was second fed - only beaten by decimals. Gerry flies 82 miles 867 yards and clocked a blue hen with a velocity of 1544.788y/min.

Gerrys son James races in the Dublin North East from the same address and was 4th ISRF also from Thurles on the same day. James was also 3rd fed from Thurles on 20th July 2014 with 12,500 birds sent.
