Congratulations to Blaine and his Father on winning the Irish National Flying Club St. Allouestre Kings Cup race. This father and son partnership from Castlebellingham have won the most sought after award in Ireland , the Kings Cup , with a velocity 854.

On Tuesday 8th July the pigeons were released at 6.20am in France in a light west wind which was to turn north westerly en route, and only 3 gallant pigeons made it home on the night. This years winner was timed at 21.10pm on the day of toss and has been named "Champion Mammy's Girl".

A two year old blue hen , flown on roundabout , she was a previous winner in 2012 of 4th Middle Section & 2nd ECF. This season she had 6 races prior to the Kings Cup and won 1st Club Pilmore Beach & 1st Club in the hard Truro & 8th ECF flying 8 hours 16 mins.

This bird is bred from the very best of the Soontjen family obtained from good friend Jim Newell of Annalong.

Pigeonlink congratulates Blaine & dad on their magnificent performance. There is a big pigeon future ahead for Blaine, and well done to The McIvor Family.

At 22, young Blaine will go down in history as being the youngest winner of this magical trophy which is arguably the hardest route for a pigeon to fly anywhere in the world.

Added to this fantastic performance Blaine also wins 1st Open East Coast Fed for the 2nd year in a row. Something never done before!

There was only three gallant birds timed on the day of toss with the other two to top distance flyer Mr Jimmy Cullen of Bray Invitation. Jimmy had a fantastic race winning the coveted Harkness Rose Bowl - Best Two Bird Average - plus timed another two birds on the 2nd day to record 4 arrivals in 2 days - Fantastic Flying Jimmy

Yours in Sport
