![]() The Shelbourne Premier RPC has 23 members and is one of the oldest racing clubs in the Irish South Road Federation and this is the second club fed topper this year. BOB ALLEN is 30 years racing the birds and has made a lot of good friends in the sport. The ISRF liberated at 9.15 am with 2404 birds in Penzance, and Bob flew 223 Miles, 1518 Yards From Penzance With a two year old Blue Hen topping the Shelbourne Premier club with a velocity of 1219.441y/m and also topped the ISRF against 443 ISRF members. This hen was 2nd club and 30th fed from Sennen Cove two weeks previous and was four times the channel getting a few minor club positions. Bob was Second club with a half sister, a previous club winner from Penzance also and his 3rd bird was 5th club with the dam of it coming from Christy Keogh's gold medal winner (France). Bob races Widowhood down the land and a roundabout system on the channel. Bob loves channel racing and won the Miller Gold Cup in 1965 with the only bird on the day flying over twelve hours on the wing. He won the Penzance Open a few years later also. Bob has many federation seconds in previous ISRF races but this is his 3rd open winner. The strain of this bird is Van Belle, with parents from Trevor Doyle of Rathfarnham. Bushards and Van Louns originally from H. Byrne are the main strain. Bob generally races twenty old birds down the land and keeps forty young birds. He trains the cocks every day before racing the OB and stops training the widow cocks during the racing season. The hens are trained up and may get one or two races before the channel racing. Kevin & Paul Bearney, Eugene Fitzgerald, (IHU President) are served with creamy buns every Saturday in Bob's house supplied by his good wife Sheila while waiting for the birds to return from the races. Bob wishes the members in the Shelbourne Premier the best for the rest of the coming season. M Roche Pro ISRF. |
