 M/M S HUNT and FAMILY was the ISRF the winner for the first time at the Mallow OB race on 22th June 2013. Sean races in the Sarsfield RPC which has a membership of 54 members and he has been racing pigeons for the last 20 years. The Sarsfield RPC is one of the strongest racing clubs in the Irish South Road Federation and this is the second club fed topper this year. M/M S HUNT and FAMILY are also involved in the commercial side of the pigeon sport. They operate The Corn Store on Dblins Northside and also on the Southside selling mainly bird and horse products. The ISRF liberated 4967 birds at 7am in Mallow and M/M S HUNT AND FAMILY flew 128 miles, 680 yards from Mallow with a one year old cock topping the Sarsfield club with a velocity of 2160.229 y/m and also topping the ISRF against 418 ISRF members. The main loft manager is Nicko, who is 76 on July 7th, and Sean jnr manages the paper work as well as doing a lot of the loft work. Nicko used to race on his own but teamed up with Sean and they are racing from their new location in Bluebell on Dublins Southside. This is their second year racing and they have won 3 YB races last year winning the YB averages and in one race getting 1,2,3 club 2 ,3,4 federation from Pilmore Beach. M/M S HUNT AND FAMILY were top flyer in two YB fed races and second in the I S R F averages YB last year 2012. To date they have won 3 OB races in this strong club from Mallow, Skibbeeren and Pilmore racing only yearlings and started off 28 birds. The main strain are Sticker donckers , a Belgian strain of 200 mile sprinters. The birds are raced on the roundabout with mainly the hens doing better than the cocks. Some of the young birds were bred from the racing team but the main source of young birds is from the stock loft. A 100 YB are kept to date. The main concern is sprint racing but Sean Snr has a interest in the channel racing also. The birds are trained every day weather permitting and Nicko and Sean Snr and Jnr wish the members Sarsfield and the ISRF well for the rest of the season but they do intend to compete for the club and federation averages this year again.
