![]() Thomas Jnr Mc Loughlin races in the Finglas RPC with a membership of thirty four members. The Finglas club is one of the top clubs in the ISRF and have won the averages shield many times. This is the second fed topper in this club this year. The Finglas club race approximately 600 to 800 birds each week during the season. The ISRF liberated 5840 birds at 8:00am from Skibbereen on June 8th. Thomas Mc Loughlin flew 177 miles 1686 yards from Skibbereen With a one year old cock and has topped the Finglas club with a velocity of 1330.809 y/m and also topped the ISRF against 426 ISRF members. He also won other positions this year - 11 open first club on the same day from Penzance channel race sending three birds. This cock has a good racing history. To date it has achieved 5th club, 17th open Barleycove open (6500 birds approx), 8th club 70th fed at Mallow. The following week from Pilmore Thomas sent 7 birds and was 2th, 3rd, and 6th club, and 5th ,8th and 27th ISRF. He also sent four birds to the Sennen Cove Yearling national race and clocked three on the day with two in the result. Thomas is back racing for four years now on his own, but he used to race with his father at a younger age. His father Thomas Snr still gives him a hand with the birds today. He started off with twenty widow cocks and races a small well trained team. He keeps 50 young birds on the dark and has 20 natural young birds which are given a few races and stopped for racing as yearlings. Thomas races pure Widow. The open winner was bred for him by Pears Stockton of Newcastle. The dam is a daughter of a combine winner and Sire of Freddy van heed mark. Other strains raced are birds from Gay Paisley of Ballymun, Ron Williamson birds, Derrick Cummins Soojgent and Roy Irwin hartog birds. Again the small flyer can put it up to the fancier who sends larger teams with the right birds and a good system. Thomas wishes the members of the ISRF and the Finglas club all the best for the rest of the season and he hopes to win a few more races before the end of the year.
